Crystal Rain

Azure stands, stretching to her full height. She draws her beautifully carved mandolin from over her shoulder. As the instrument moves, you notice the sparkle of black diamonds, inlaid in the shape of a small lily, on its face. Slim fingers begin to strum over the strings. As the music begins, with a few chords, a brightness appears and hoovers in the sky. Azure draws her fingers over the instrument, music swells and the brightness forms two figures standing on a hillside. Their hands raise in tracings of runes as the clouds above you move to form a wispy white rose.

Azure sings:

Crystal rain falls from the sky,
On a hilltop a wolf howls his aching cry,
And in this land the angels sigh,
For only once will the pure rose gleam on high.

For the rose is a promise that is love's purest light.
It gleams there in darkness, shining ever bright,
It glistens for thee and I.
And in my life there shall be no night.

A gentle smile forms on the bardess' expressive lips and her mandolin's pure notes reach out to you. Suddenly, the rose shifts, the petals open, as though blossoming.

Azure sings:

For this time on, my soul tis bound,
Within the purest vow I've found.
And there it shall rest, it's roots forever ground
In the sweet laughter that from my true love sounds.

Azure plays the melody for a moment, her voice falling silent. One talented hand is lifted and the figures disappear, but the rose in the sky remains. It shimmers then changes to deep crimson.

Azure sings:

The sky rains with crimson fire.
The wolf on high finds his true desire.
The angels sing without tire,
And a true rose is my love's sweet lyre.

For the rose is a promise that is love's truest light,
It gleams there in darkness, shining ever bright.
It glistens for thee and I.
And in my life there shall be no night.

A truth fills my life as my hand meets thine,
Wraps about me as though tis a vine,
My eyes, before, have sought some sign,
And now I see it only when upon your eyes I dine.

So there tis my true true love
And now I have no need for the dove
For tis only your arms that I need to find
And with you now I will bind.

Azure smiles though tis obvious her concentration is upon her music. The sweet notes reach outward and reality shifts. The rose blends and a dove flies, but then a light forms a golden ring.

Azure sings:

And the rose tis white and red
And the pure dove has suddenly fled
By a golden light that shall never die
And a love that will never lie.

Azure's smile is no brighter than the violet eyes that twinkle, perhaps with the light of the stars she gazes upon, perhaps with that special hint of mischief that is all her own . The ring begins to turn in circles that are in time to the chords of her mandolin. Finally the ring shimmers and bright colors burst into the night.

Azure plays onward as though directing the hues. The, now faint, images of the white rose, crimson rose, ring and casters join into a bright ball and as she draws the music to a fading close, the ball explodes and bright colors burst into the sky.

Azure smiles quietly as she silences her music and looks up.
