Ode to the Barrel

Azure smiles mischievously and draws her beautiful mandolin from her back. Her fingers settle into a lively tune that sets your feet tapping. The bardess bows gracefully, saying, "Hmmm, oddly, this little tune is called..." For a moment she pauses and pink color floods into her cheeks, "An Ode to the Barrel." Azure giggles, still blushing, but her fingers continue to play. Somewhere in the music that radiates from the mandolin you hear the sound of children's laughter and feel uplifted by the happiness.

Azure sings:

Once upon a time we all were given a start.
A barrel appeared but without a tart,
When examined, the barrel was found to have some art,
Keep Elanthia clean was all it taught.

Azure coughes.

Azure sings:

There it stood at our fine gate,
Listening to yells and whines was its dubious fate,
All day long "Healer heal me", "Rez me now!" and "HELP!" drilled into its wooden pate,
Excuse me...but boxes were like a date!

Azure gazes around with wide violet eyes. She attempts an indignant expression but fails miserably as a slow grin steals over her features.

Azure sings:

Now, I guess, occassionally someone would place a box,
Into the barrel's waiting maw,
And eventually others stopped their stalls,
Soon the barrel's place was a popular...uh...thrall?

Azure gestures at you with a wave and continues to sing, "hall? hmmmm....oh well...you get the gist.

Azure sings:

But did anyone ever stop to wonder,
What on earth would a barrel plunder?
Why would it rip a box asunder,
Merely to keep Elanthia from down under?

Well.......

Azure giggles like a school girl and her deft fingers continue to play. Someone begins to tap a rythym with their toes and Azure's eyes grow huge.

Azure sings:

Did you ever stop to kiss a barrel?
Uh...did a barrel ever stop to kiss you?

Azure blinks and pauses, shifting a bit uncomfortably.

Azure sings:

And did you ever see a barrel flirt?
And I swear I wasn't even wearing a skirt!

But I swear it made me blush bright pink
When a toothpick made me think
And there it stood in it's place
And kissed me right upon my face.

Then all through the night I heard,
It called my name outright
Entrei refuse to fight
With a barrel who had sat ,
Just slightly too long in the light.

Azure blinks at you, again. Startlement, as though she finds that a bit hard to swallow too, flickers upon her otherwise deadpan face.

Azure sings:

Well you might think this is all a tale,
But think again when you decide to yell,
At North End's gate you might hear something rather fell,
Or better yet.....hmmm, maybe I'll just not tell.

Oh, what a wonderous land,
Where barrels kiss and a dog licks a hand,
Where there is joy yet to make a stand,
And laughter rings throughtout this wonderous land.

Azure chuckles and smiles at you happily as she slings the mandolin back over her shoulder.
