Stained Glass

The bardess walks toward the center of the room which has grown dark save for a bright light which seems to follow her like a silver moonbeam illuminating gentle waters.

Azure recites:

"Now, there comes a bright day,
When each lass has her say,
Perhaps upon her lips tis a prayer,
A welcome or dare."

"Which ever it might be,
Listen for a moment with me."

Azure beckons you to come closer with a graceful hand and lifts her voice to sing with a sweet clarity that needs no instrument to fill your soul with music. Deep in the rich tones is a wistfulness which is mirrored in her violet eyes.

Azure sings:

"Welcome to my table, lord.
Come share my wealth with me.
Open the stained glass door
And view the wonders I offer thee."

"There are riches I long to give.
Treasures that I have to share.
A wealth that truly lives,
In the depths of my heart, so fair."

Azure stands completely still, her eyes far distant as though seeing a scene that she would give to you to see. The lingering notes of her song are clear and you swear you can listen to nothing else.

Azure sings:

"Do you long to run your fingers through my hair?"

Azure gazes at the assembled crowd. With a smile she turns gracefully to her love. It is as though she sings for him, and him alone.

"Gaze into my eyes of violet hue?
Do you long to touch the skin that shines with morning dew?
And do you seek the laughter that is more a dare?"

"If that is so..." Azure pauses for a moment, her eyes twinkling brightly as she gives a coy look about at the audience.

"Then welcome to my table, lord.
Come share my wealth with me.
Open the stained glass door,
And view the wonders I offer thee."

Azure smile turns to mischief and she gestures in the air. Suddenly, you see before you a stained glass door with sparkling panes. After a moment it vanishes. Was it really there? Azure continues to sing without a falter. Her voice seems to guide you even as her eyes seek to draw you toward her and one hand reaches outward as though to take your hand.

Azure sings:

"Look here is my hand.
Take it now and learn to stand.
Beside me, always, but if I fail,
Lift me high upon an unfurled sail."

There is a growing exultant emotion in Azure's clear voice. Though the notes grow no louder. Now she sings for each person who has assembled.

Azure sings:

"Dance with me upon the clouds of highborn glee,
Sing to me of things that may never be,
Touch me softly in the night,
But most of all, share with me all things bright."

"When clouds climb our azure skies,
We will just learn to fly,
So welcome to my world, lord,
Come walk my dreams...
...with me."

"Now I place my hand in thine.
And let my eyes only for thee shine.
I whisper my love upon the wind.
And hold fast to thee...
...my dearest friend."

The song has become bright, but no brighter than Azure's eyes as she gazes upon her own lord with the light with true belief in her eyes. The melody shifts into a slightly different rhythm and her voice is soft as she says to her love:

"So welcome to my table, lord.
The wealth I offer is in thy eyes.
Tis my hand and heart that belong to you.
Tis laughter ringing from the sky.

Azure lifts her voice once more to sing softly,

"Welcome to my table, lord.
Come share my wealth with me.
Open the stained glass door.
And view the wonders I offer thee.

Azure sweeps into a deep curtsy before the one she loves, her golden head bowing slightly. As the area grows light again, she stands and curtsies once more to the assembled with a brilliant smile.
